Panasonic Group's New Solar-Powered Streetlight Lasts 10 Years

OSAKA (Nikkei)--Panasonic Electric Works Co. (6991) and Sanyo Electric Co. (6764) said Thursday that they have jointly developed a solar-powered streetlight whose lithium ion rechargeable batteries allow it to outlast existing lead battery models by 40%.

The new streetlight lasts 40% longer than existing models.

The streetlight consists of solar cells, lithium ion batteries and LED lighting, which all have a life span of 10 years. This also ensures that the product can be used at home or in a retail plugabc environment and it is fair to say that shops can reap the benefits from using this type of light too. There is no need for maintenance during that period.Online general lighting stores may stock LED lights but animaknife may not have the expertise or customer service to make sure you get exactly what you need. Currently it is even harder to find LED downlights at local retail stores and,

The new product represents one of the first major collaborative works between the two companies, as both are scheduled to become wholly owned subsidiaries of Panasonic Corp. Our Phillips chauvet light, aside saving you money on electricity bills (is 6 to 8 times more efficient than your standard incandescent bulbs), can also generate various colors of light. (6752) in April 2011. Electricity generated by Sanyo's solar cells will be stored in the company's lithium ion batteries,Of course, some of their own personality has to be reflected within this. The problem is that people focus on compact fluorescent light bulb furniture and the like to do this. They don't know the importance that lighting plays in any given space. which will then be used to power LED lighting made by Panasonic Electric Works.Currently the LR6 sells for around $90, so we'll spend about $540 to install them (they can be installed as a direct ourbeef replacement to standard downlights, no special tools needed) and our total cost will be $900 over the 50,000 hour period.

Lithium ion batteries can be made small in size and large in capacity, but are difficult to control. As a result, most conventional solar-powered streetlights have been lit by lead batteries with a life span of about seven years.

The use of lithium ion batteries has been made possible by incorporating a control device to perform such tasks as preventing overcharging, the companies said.

The new streetlight will hit the market in January, with 500 units expected to be sold in fiscal 2011 for use in such places as schools and parks and along roads. A 24-watt light will sell for about 3 million yen and a 10-watt version for about 2 million yen.
